The Big Heart Foundation

The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), is a philanthropic foundation officially established in May 2015, proceeded by various initiatives and campaigns launched by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

The Foundation’s mandate is to protect and empower vulnerable children and their families in vulnerable situations across the world. Since then, TBHF has provided health, education and emergency aid services – among others – to almost 4 million people in more than 25 countries. 

138 is proud to support the Lessen the Gap initiative launched by TBHF, which aims to address the challenges imposed by the global pandemic on communities around the world, specifically in Palestine and Lebanon. 

For Palestine, the foundation is aiding in the Incubation & Seed Funding of Youth-led Startups. The project aims to address youth unemployment challenges in Palestine that were further exacerbated due to the pandemic.

Prior to the pandemic, youth unemployment had reached 63% in Gaza. 90 youth-led business will be supported through the project with support services ranging from training and mentoring to incubation and support with seed funding.

For Lebanon the foundation is supporting Lebanese youth livelihood and entrepreneurship endeavors. The project aims to address some of the challenges facing youth-led MSMEs by supporting them in accessing new markets and provide them the capacity building needed to grow and export.

In specific, the project will focus on incubating viable, innovative, impactful, and sustainable development solutions in the form of social enterprises, nonprofits, and initiatives of up to 40 youth in Lebanon.
